klemmer inne i avgangshallen.
kjedelig.
Ankomst USA - mer venting.
All dokumentasjon,
plutselig i New York!
hotellet.
i Amerika.
Campus, mitt hjem for semesteret.
dag. Men nå er jeg her! Klar for nye utfordringer….

Taking inspiration from Lucky Luke in the title, and talking a little about the trip and my day in New York.
I was driven to the airport early in the morning by my father-in-law and Henrik, and said goodbye with a cinnamon bun and some hugs in the departure hall. Some of the time was then spent on charging my ipad (massive FAIL on my part - had not connected the wire properly the day before), purchase of water and some chips and more waiting in line. The flight was relatively straightforward, with food, movies, series and books on the iPad, eight hours went surprisingly quick. But it must be said that to fly alone is pretty boring.
Arrival USA - more waiting.
All the documentation, printing, and grugleding had built up to the immigration check at the airport .. Would I come into the country? 45 minutes in line, and three control questions later I stood stamped finished and newly arrived American. Easy peasy.
My luggage had arrived at baggage, I bought the bus ticket and goto on the first bus that came. In under an hour I was suddenly in New York! Lugging 30 kg of luggage around for 20 minutes and I got to the hotel .Pod 51 was my home for the day.
Having everything in place, I went out to get some food. Ended up at PJ Clarke's, and ate a delicious burger and took a couple of glasses of beer. After eating, I was completely knocked out and fell asleep at 8:30 p.m. (02:30 Norwegian time). Sleeping was erratic and I got up relatively early and ate some berries I had bought the day before. I would take the bus onward already at 12:30, and decided to utilize the time with some sightseeing. Wandered off at 8 in the morning and went to Grand Central Station, Cornell Club and Rockefeller Center. Took a quick wrap and lemonade for lunch and bought some provisions for the bus trip later. It was of course also time for a trip to Magnolia Bakery ...
A little before 12:30, I sat onboard the Cornell bus. Luxurious seats, tables, power outlets, WIFI aaaaand free snacks made the 5-hour trip comfortable and a little less long. I got a nice study in New Jersey's farming landscape and began to get the feeling of really being in America.
We roll up at Cornell and you begin to really understand that the school is BIG. From the veterinary school to Sage Hall (where I will have classes) it takes 7-8 minutes by bus. And all of it is under Cornell University. Fortunately I got a taxi relatively quickly and was driven to Maplewood Park Campus, my home for the semester.
The first thing that strikes you when you get there is that it is very simple. And you have nothing extra in the room. You have a bed, a closet, a dresser and a desk. But no pillow, quilt, dishes, or other things you really need immediately. I was prepared for the problem and had at least my little travel pillow and linen with me. My new lunch box, with a spork, proved to be very handy for a late night pasta dinner this Saturday evening.
I fall asleep fairly exhausted after a long day. But now I'm here! Ready for new challenges ....
